Frequently Asked Questions

What Kind of lotion do you use?
For most massages, I use Soothing Touch Massage Lotion- a luxuriously unscented blend packed with Arnica, Aloe Vera, and Vitamin E to nourish, soothe, and soften your skin. Because it’s fragrance-free, we can customize your experience by adding essential oils tailored to your mood or needs- whether you crave relaxation, energy, or something in between!

Allergy alert: Your comfort is my priority! Please let me know about any allergies or sensitivities before your session.
What Kind of music will be playing?
I love setting the mood with soothing spa music and healing frequencies- because relaxation starts with the right vibes! But this is your time, so if you have a favorite genre, artist, or even ocean waves to unwind to, just say the word. My streaming service is ready to play whatever helps you melt into bliss.
Your session, your soundtrack.
Do I have to be undressed?
To ensure the best results during Swedish or Barefoot Massage, I use high-quality lotions and creams that work most effectively with direct skin contact. For your comfort, you may undress to your preferred level- with bra or underwear on or off, whichever feels most comfortable for you.
Your privacy and comfort are my top priorities. In Virginia, draping is mandatory, so only the area being worked on is exposed, and private areas are never exposed or touched. I also provide fully clothed massages!
Is my 60 minute massage actually 60 minutes?
Yes! The massage length you book is the massage length you get! When you book a massage with me, every minute is yours- no rushing, no shortcuts.
How long have you been a massage therapist?
I have been a licensed massage therapist since December 12, 2011 and opened Just Breathe Massage in January of 2012.
What is Massage Cupping?
Massage cupping is a modern adaptation of traditional cupping therapy, using silicone, glass, or plastic cups to create gentle suction on the skin. Unlike traditional cupping where cups are left in place for extended periods of time, massage cupping is dynamic- the cups are glided over oiled skin to lift and separate soft tissue, improve circulation of blood and lymph, and release tension. Mild, temporary redness may appear but typically fades within a few hours to a couple of days.
What is Barefoot/Ashiatsu Massage?
Barefoot massage is a Western version of Ashiatsu(meaning foot pressure in Japanese) and is a unique, deep-pressure technique where the therapist uses their feet instead of hands to deliver broad, flowing strokes along your muscles. The therapist holds onto overhead bars for balance and control, allowing them to apply deep, even pressure. I am a graduate of The Center for Barefoot Massage(www.Centerforbarefootmassage.com).
What is Table thai?
Table Thai Massage is an adaptation of traditional Thai massage, performed on a massage table (instead of a floor mat). It combines assisted stretching, rhythmic compression, and acupressure to improve flexibility, relieve tension, and restore energy flow- all while you stay fully clothed and comfortable.
